Lauro Amado, born in Bedigliora, Switzerland, was a renowned footballer who made his mark on the sport in the 1930s and 1940s. His illustrious career spanned several clubs and included a significant contribution to the Swiss national team.

Early Career

Amado began his football journey with Elvezia. At just 18 years old, he joined Lugano, where he claimed his first major accolade, the Swiss Cup. Seeking new challenges, he ventured to England and played for Tufnell Park Londonres. However, his stay in the United Kingdom was short-lived, and he soon returned to Switzerland to play briefly for Young Boys.

Servette and Lugano

In 1932, Amado moved to Geneva to join Servette. With Servette, he captured the Swiss championship title in the 1932-1933 season. Two years later, he returned to Lugano and led the team to another championship victory in 1937-1938.

Grasshoppers Success

Amado's career reached its peak when he moved to Grasshoppers in 1940. With Grasshoppers, he won an impressive three Swiss championships and four Swiss Cups. During this period, he twice earned the distinction of being the championship's top scorer.

International Career

Amado made 54 appearances for the Swiss national team, scoring 21 goals. He represented Switzerland at the 1938 FIFA World Cup, playing in three matches. His final international match was against Ireland on December 5, 1948.
