Biography of Lee Thompson Young

Lee Thompson Young was born in 1984 in Columbia, North Carolina. His parents divorced when he was in the second grade, and he lived with his mother, who was proud of his success in the school theater studio. It was during his school years that Young decided that theater was his calling and he wanted to pursue a career in acting. This conviction grew stronger after he played the role of Martin Luther King Jr. in a school production of 'A Night of Stars and Dreams'.

Early Career

Young wasted no time in pursuing his passion for acting. In 1996, he became his own agent and traveled to New York City during spring break. The following year, Young landed his first significant role as Jett Jackson, the lead character in the series 'The Famous Jett Jackson'. For his portrayal, Young received three nominations for the Young Artist Award and even contributed as a writer for one of the episodes.

Television and Film Success

A few years later, at the age of fifteen, Young starred in the sports drama 'Johnny Tsunami' in 1999. In 2001, he reprised his role as Jett Jackson in the movie 'Jett Jackson: The Movie'. With these accomplishments, Young achieved his goal of becoming an actor. He furthered his skills and knowledge by attending the University of Southern California, where he studied cinema.

Young's television career took off in the early 2000s. He appeared in numerous TV series, including 'Scrubs', 'Philly', 'Smallville', 'Jake 2.0', 'Kevin Hill', and others. In the film industry, Young had roles in 'Friday Night Lights', 'Akeelah and the Bee', and 'The Hills Have Eyes II'. In 2007, he tried his hand at directing with the short film 'Mano'. Additionally, Young played one of the main roles in his own film.

Later Career

In 2008, Young joined the cast of 'Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles', and in 2009, he began filming for the science fiction series 'FlashForward'. Despite his success, tragedy struck in 2013 when Young tragically took his own life at the age of 29. His death shocked the entertainment industry and his fans, leaving behind a promising career and a talented actor whose potential was cut short.
