Biography of Lena Haecki
Lena Haecki is a Swiss biathlete and a member of the Swiss national biathlon team. She trains at the "Nordic Engelberg" sports club.
Junior Career
Haecki's first international tournament was the 2012 Junior World Championships in Kontiolahti, where she achieved her best result of 43rd place in the sprint event. In 2013, at the Junior World Championships in Obertilliach, she finished 44th in the sprint and won a bronze medal in the women's relay as part of the Swiss team alongside Tanya Bissig and Sabina Di Lallo. The following year, at the Junior World Championships in Presque Isle, she finished eighth in the sprint and pursuit races.
At the 2015 Junior World Championships in Raubichi, Haecki displayed great speed but struggled with her shooting, resulting in her inability to compete for top positions. Her best individual result was 13th place in the sprint. In her final Junior World Championships in Cheile Gradistei in 2016, she won two silver medals in the sprint and pursuit races, finishing behind Swedish athlete Hanna Oeberg in both events.
Professional Career
In the 2014/15 season, Lena Haecki made her debut in adult competitions, first at the IBU Cup, where she finished 33rd in the Beitostolen stage, and then in the World Cup. As the season progressed, she secured a spot on the Swiss national team and in January 2015, she participated in her first World Cup relay. Her best result in her first season at the senior level was 12th place in the sprint at the Antholz stage. In 2015, she also made her debut at the Biathlon World Championships, finishing 28th in the sprint event. Haecki's best result in her professional career so far is a fourth-place finish in the pursuit race at the Ostersund stage in the 2016/2017 season.
