Early Career and Domestic Success

Leonardo Nascimento de Araujo, born in 1969, commenced his professional football career with Brazilian club Flamengo in 1987. At 17, he played alongside icons like Zico and won his first Brazilian Championship. In 1990, he joined São Paulo, where he was part of the "esquadr?o tricolor" under coach Tele Santana, securing his second Brazilian Championship title.

International Debut and 1994 World Cup

Leonardo made his international debut in 1990 and was selected for the 1994 World Cup, representing Brazil. However, during a match against the United States, he accidentally injured American midfielder Tab Ramos, resulting in a 4-game suspension.

International Success and Move to Europe

In 1996, Leonardo joined Paris Saint-Germain, where he played in various midfield positions. In 1997, he earned the number 10 shirt for the Brazilian national team, playing a key role in Brazil's Copa America victory. The following year, he participated in his second World Cup, helping Brazil reach the final.

Stardom at AC Milan

In 1997, Leonardo signed for AC Milan for €8.5 million. He became a regular striker, scoring 62 goals in 177 appearances. He returned to Milan later in his career and retired in 2003.

Post-Playing Career and Coaching

After retiring, Leonardo became a football agent and completed coaching courses. He facilitated Kaka's move from São Paulo to Milan and played a role in Pato's transfer from Internacional.

Head Coach of AC Milan

In 2009, Leonardo became the head coach of AC Milan. Despite facing a shortage of players, he guided the team to a successful campaign with Ronaldinho as the star player.

Head Coach of Inter Milan

In 2010, Leonardo joined Inter Milan as head coach. He led the team to a 3-1 victory in his debut match against Napoli.
