Paolo Bettini was born on February 1, 1974, in Cecina, Italy. He began cycling at a young age and turned professional in 2002 with the Saeco team.

Breakthrough and Success

Bettini made a name for himself in 2004 by winning three races. He continued to impress, winning stages of the Vuelta a España (2005) and Giro d'Italia (2009), and the Clasica de San Sebastian (2007).
