Early Life and Education
Horovets was born on October 7, 1950, in Kyiv, Ukraine. He pursued higher education at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv in 1973 and subsequently graduated from Karpenko-Kary Ukrainian Institute of Theater Arts in 1979.
Filmmaking Career
After completing his education, Horovets embarked on a filmmaking career. From 1979 to 1985, he served as a director at Kyivnauchfilm. His directorial debut, "Ladies' Tailor" (1990), garnered critical acclaim, earning him the Best Director Award at the San Remo International Film Festival of Author's Cinema.
Israeli Sojourn
The economic crisis in the 1990s compelled Horovets to relocate to Israel, where he continued his filmmaking pursuits. He worked on Israeli television, directed documentaries, and taught at Tel Aviv University.
Return to Ukraine
In late 2006, Horovets returned to Ukraine, where he resumed his filmmaking activities. He directed numerous award-winning films, including "Ingele" (2005), "A Real Miracle" (2007), and "My Widow's Husband" (2010).
Personal Life
Horovets was married, and as of 2009, his wife resided in Israel, working for the Israeli television industry.
