Actor Leonid Gromov is not one of those actors whose names constantly appear in social or scandalous news. He does not participate in parties and fashion shows, but after watching at least one film with Gromov, his face and the character he created are impossible to forget.

Childhood and Early Career

Leonid Nikolaevich was born on May 6, 1963, in Kursk. He couldn't be classified as a quiet and well-behaved child - Leonid often came back from school with bruises and even scars, which he still carries to this day. He was passionate about all kinds of sports, especially ice skating, and spent all his free time on the ice during winter. His creative nature and unstoppable energy led him to the Kursk Theater Studio "Rovesnik," led by I.V. Selivanov. The famous actor still holds grateful memories of his first mentor. Selivanov recognized the "divine spark" in the mischievous boy and literally forced him to leave the skating rink of the Kursk Pioneer Park for rehearsals. In high school, Leonid Gromov realized that his true calling was the stage.

In 1980, after receiving his high school diploma, he hesitated to announce his decision to study in Moscow. The theater studio was on the verge of collapse, and the director did everything possible to preserve the collective. However, Selivanov fully supported Leonid in his decision and firmly stated that he believed in his future success. Leonid successfully passed the entrance exams at GITIS (State Institute of Theatrical Arts) on his first attempt and was admitted to O. Remez's course. He enthusiastically immersed himself in studying the subtleties of the acting craft and spent his free time taking care of his charming classmate, Tatyana Augshkap, who came from a Moscow theater family.

In 1984, after receiving his diploma, Leonid joined the troupe of the Lenkom Theater. In 1986, Gromov was recognized as the best young actor in the capital, but by this time, he started focusing more on his film career. His film debut took place immediately after graduation from GITIS, which, according to the rules, could result in expulsion for participating in film shoots. The most unusual role for Gromov was one of the homeless slaves in Elena Tsyplokova's low-budget film "Reed Paradise" (1989), which received an award at the San Sebastian International Film Festival.

The beginning of the new millennium marked the start of Leonid Gromov's creative rise. His mature and life-experienced appearance became highly sought after by directors, and he received numerous casting offers. After playing supporting roles in popular TV series such as "Turetsky's March" (2001), "Family Secrets" (2001), "Detectives" (2001), "Antikiller" (2002), he started receiving leading roles.
