Early Life and Education
Leonid Olegovich Kolosovsky was born on August 17, 1984, in Zhytomyr, Ukraine, to a family of technical professionals. His father, Oleg Leonidovich Kolosovsky, is an engineer-mechanic, and his mother, Lyudmila Alekseevna Kolosovskaya, teaches technical subjects at a college. Leonid has an older sister, Elena.
Kolosovsky received his secondary education at Humanitarian Gymnasium No. 23 in Zhytomyr. While not an academic standout, he excelled in creative pursuits. From eighth grade, he captained his school's KVN comedy team, played guitar, and wrote songs that he performed in national competitions.
After graduating high school, he moved to Kyiv in 2003 and enrolled in the Faculty of Law at the Academy of Labor and Social Relations of Ukraine's Federation of Trade Unions.
Musical Career
During his university years, Kolosovsky continued his creative pursuits. In his first year, he formed the band "SVCH" and later signed a contract with the production center "STAR OPEN SPACE" as an artist. In 2004, he founded the band "Da Vinci," which achieved moderate success in the Ukrainian music industry until 2007. Kolosovsky served as the band's frontman and songwriter.
Transition to Filmmaking
In 2008, Kolosovsky put his music career on hold and joined Vladimir Yakimenko's Pistolet Film as a production assistant. In 2009, he collaborated with music video director Sergei Tkachenko and joined the newly formed company RENTGENFILM.
Partnership with MOZGI Production
In 2010, Aleksey Potapenko contacted Kolosovsky and offered him a collaboration with MOZGI Entertainment as a producer on several music videos. His first works included videos for the group Vremya i Steklo ("Lyubvi Tochka Net" and "Serebryanoe More") and for the duo Potap and Nastya ("Esli vdrug").
In November 2011, Kolosovsky, Potapenko, and Irina Gorovaya established MOZGI Production as a video production studio.
Directorial Debut and Signature Style
Kolosovsky's directorial debut came in 2013 with the music video "Naoоборот" for the group Dio.Filmy, for which he also wrote the lyrics and music. Shortly after, he directed the video for Olya Polyakova's "Шлёпки." The music videos for Potap and Nastya's "Vsyo puchkom" and Vremya i Steklo's "Potantsuy so mnoy" further solidified his passion for directing.
Kolosovsky's distinctive directorial style became evident in the 2015 music videos for Potap and Nastya's "Bumdiggybay" and Vremya i Steklo's "Imya 505" (a record-breaking video with over 160 million views on YouTube).
