Early Life and EducationNilde Iotti was born in Reggio Emilia, Italy, in 1920. She studied philology at the Catholic University of Milan, graduating with a degree in literature.
Political Career
"Active in Communist Party"In 1943, Iotti joined the Italian Communist Party (PCI). She rose through the ranks, becoming president of the Union of Italian Women in Reggio Emilia.

In 1946, Iotti was elected to the Italian Chamber of Deputies, a position she held until her death in 1999. She was a member of the Commission 75, responsible for drafting the Italian Constitution.
