Yahyo Azimov was born on December 4, 1947, in Leninabad (now Khujand), Tajik SSR. In 1966, he graduated from Leninabad High School No. 4 named after V. I. Lenin. In 1971, he completed his studies at the Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry with a degree in Knitting Production Engineering Technology.
