Biography of Leslie Nielsen

Leslie Nielsen was an American comedic film actor who established himself as a solid and phlegmatic hero over the course of several decades. However, his image was shattered in 1980 when he starred in the parody comedy "Airplane!" directed by David and Jerry Zucker. Nielsen then embraced the genre of film parody, and his previous hero was replaced by Lieutenant Frank Drebin from "The Naked Gun" (1988), which is perhaps his most famous film in our country.

Early Life and Career

Leslie Nielsen was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, in Canada. He graduated from the Lorne Greene Academy of Radio and studied at the Neighborhood Playhouse Theatre in New York. Nielsen began his acting career on television in the 1950s, appearing in numerous series. He made his film debut in 1956 in "The Vagabond King," and his first major success came with the film "Forbidden Planet" in the same year.

Transition to Comedy

Nielsen's established and solid image as a phlegmatic hero was instantly shattered in 1980 when he starred in the parody comedy "Airplane!" directed by David and Jerry Zucker. This marked a turning point in his career, as he embraced the genre of film parody.
