Early Life and Education

Lev Ivanovich Gotovtsev was born on September 9, 1953, in the village of Grodekovo in the Primorsky region, Russia. The son of Ivan Nikolayevich Gotovtsev, a war veteran and colonel, and a war veteran and participant in the partisan movement, he received a musical upbringing from his mother, a teacher of Belarusian language.

Gotovtsev graduated from high school in 1969 and enrolled in the Moscow Food Institute. However, his passion for theater led him to simultaneously pursue acting at GITIS, where he graduated from the musical comedy department.

Theater and Music Career

In 1972, while still a student, Gotovtsev became an intern at the Moscow Operetta Theater. In 1975, he joined the Ivanovo Operetta Theater, where he performed in lead roles in classic operettas such as "Silva" and "My Fair Lady." He also showcased his versatility in character roles, such as Troška in "Devichiy Perepolokh."

In 1977, Gotovtsev joined the vocal-instrumental ensemble "Metronom" under the direction of M. Yakon at Mosconcert. The ensemble's popularity resulted in extensive touring throughout the USSR, with Gotovtsev performing in over 1000 concerts.

Radio and Television Career

In 1982, Gotovtsev became a soloist with the Academic Choir of Russian Song of the All-Union Radio and Central Television. He participated in numerous television programs and, due to his organizational skills, was promoted to inspector of the choir.

From 1982 to 1993, Gotovtsev worked at the Studio of Folk Art of the USSR State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company.

Producer Success

Gotovtsev's talent for producing became evident in 1989 when he began working on the "Hit Parade of Vechernyaya Moskva" music marathon. This high-profile show featured some of the biggest names in Russian pop music, including Nadezhda Babkina, Laima Vaikule, Oleg Gazmanov, and Alla Pugacheva.

Folklore and Traditional Music Promotion

Gotovtsev's passion for preserving Russian folklore and traditions led him to produce several popular folklore festivals, including "Valentina Gotovtseva Invites Friends" (1991-92 and 1995) and "Parade of Folklore Stars of Russia" (1993-1996). His "Paschal Благовест" program, held in 1994, was recognized as the best folklore program of the year.

Partnerships with Musical Icons

Олег Газманов's Executive Producer

In October 1994, Oleg Gazmanov, a renowned pop star, poet, singer, and composer, invited Gotovtsev to become his executive producer. This collaboration marked a significant turning point in Gazmanov's career, with a series of solo programs entitled "Господа офицеры" (Gentlemen Officers) becoming a staple at the prestigious Rossiya State Central Concert Hall.

Gotovtsev's expertise in show business and ability to realize Gazmanov's creative vision ensured the success of these concerts. They became known for their scale, featuring vocal and choreographic groups, military ensembles, and an orchestra, as well as state-of-the-art pyrotechnics and lighting effects.
