Biography of Lev Alexandrovich Pelevin

Early Life and Education

Lev Alexandrovich Pelevin (1927-1978) was a renowned Soviet engineer and production organizer born in Balasheyka, Russia, in 1927. He graduated from the Ufa Petroleum Institute in 1962 with a degree in Petroleum Engineering.

Career in the Oil Industry

From 1947 to 1964, Pelevin held various positions at the Tuymazyneft Oil Production Directorate, including operator, engineer, senior engineer, and head of the production planning department. In 1964, he was appointed Chief Engineer and in 1965, Head of Bashneft, a major oil production company.

As Head of Bashneft, Pelevin played a pivotal role in the development of several oil fields. He also introduced innovative technologies in oil production, such as electric centrifugal pumps, hydraulic piston pumps, and systems for collecting formation wastewater.

Scientific Contribution

In 1969, Pelevin earned a Candidate of Technical Sciences degree. He authored several influential publications on petroleum engineering, including:

- "Gas-Water-Oil Mixture Flow in Oilfield Pipelines" (1976)

- "Unified Methodology for Investigating the Efficiency of Gas-Oil Separators" (1981)

Political Involvement

Pelevin actively participated in politics. He was elected as a deputy to the Supreme Soviet of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic during the 7th and 8th convocations. He also attended the XXIV Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.

Later Career and Death

After leaving Bashneft in 1972, Pelevin became Deputy Director of the All-Union Scientific Research Institute for Oil Production Technology. He passed away in 1978 in Ufa, leaving behind a legacy as a distinguished engineer and scientific contributor to the field of petroleum engineering.
