Barry's Education and Early Career
Barry graduated from the esteemed University of Dundee in Scotland in 2014 with a First-Class Honours in Civil Engineering. After excelling in his undergraduate studies, he joined the renowned engineering consultancy firm, Fairhurst, as a graduate engineer in 2014.
Flourishing at Fairhurst
During his tenure at Fairhurst, Barry gained invaluable experience in building surveying and worked on a diverse range of engineering projects. His expertise extended to the design of both steel and concrete structures.
Barry honed his skills in designing timber frames, particularly in the development of standard house plans. Furthermore, he underwent extensive training in working at height and became a qualified Height Safety Technician. Additionally, Barry played a pivotal role as a Field Technician in Aberdeen City Council's ambitious external envelope refurbishment program.
Post-Fairhurst Journey
After a rewarding tenure at Fairhurst, Barry embarked on a working holiday in Canada. During this career break, he worked at resorts nestled in the Canadian Rockies, ensuring the smooth operation of ski lifts in winter and contributing to the maintenance crew in summer.
Return to Scotland
In early November 2020, Barry returned to Dundee, Scotland, and seamlessly transitioned into a Civil Engineer role at Millard Consulting, a reputable firm operating across Scotland, where he continues to apply his expertise in various engineering endeavors.
