Early Life and Education

Gregor Zaidel was born in a Jewish family and received his early education at a Jewish folk school. Subsequently, he attended the Vilna Technical Railway School, where he came under the tutelage of the renowned Chekhovian teacher V. I. Alexeyev, who had once tutored the children of Leo Tolstoy.

Literary Influences

Zaidel's intellectual and literary perspectives were profoundly shaped by the writings of prominent 19th-century Russian authors. Nikolai Mikhailovsky and Mikhail Saltykov-Shchedrin played a significant role in molding his worldview and literary style.

Journalism and Writing

Throughout his career, Zaidel published extensively in a range of periodicals, including "Voskhod," "Uralskaya Zhizn," and "Russkaya Zhizn." His journalistic endeavors provided him with a platform to convey his insights and commentary on contemporary issues.
