Biography of Lidia Rzhevskaya
Lidia Rzhevskaya was a Belarusian Soviet actress. She was awarded the title of People's Artist of the USSR in 1955. Her creative career as an actress began in 1916. From 1917, she worked as an actress for the Belarusian Drama and Comedy Society. Lidia Rzhevskaya was born on April 5 (17), 1899, in Minsk. She graduated from the Mariinsky Women's Gymnasium in Minsk. Her creative career as an actress began in 1916. From 1917, she worked as an actress for the Belarusian Drama and Comedy Society.
Acting Career and Personal Life
In 1920, Rzhevskaya became an actress at the 1st Belarusian State Drama Theater (now the Yanka Kupala National Academic Theater) in Minsk. She was mentored by director E.A. Mirovich. Rzhevskaya also appeared in films. She became a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union in 1952. She passed away on October 24, 1977, and was buried at the Eastern (Moscow) Cemetery in Minsk. Her husband was Leon Rakhlenko (1907-1986), an actor, director, and People's Artist of the USSR.
