Lil Skies: Early Life and Family

Lil Skies (born Kimetrius Christopher Foose) was born in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, on August 4, 1998. His parents' interracial marriage, with his mother being Hispanic and his father African-American, made him a representative of diverse cultures. Growing up in a middle-class family, Skies exhibited academic success and was accepted into Shippensburg University but dropped out after his freshman year to pursue music.

Music Career: Origins and Breakthrough

Skies' interest in music began during childhood visits to a recording studio with his father. At age 12, he started actively freestyling and writing songs. Inspired by his father's stage name (Dark Skies) and his idol Lil Wayne, he adopted the moniker Lil Skies. While attending college, Skies showcased his talent at student rap battles and gained recognition after opening for Fetty Wap. However, his YouTube and SoundCloud presence had already established him as an emerging talent.

Debut Mixtapes and Independent Success

His first music video, for the song "Lonely," was uploaded in August 2015, garnering substantial attention. The follow-up video, "Da Sauce," released in 2016, became a viral hit with over a million views. The same year, he released his debut mixtape, "Good Grades, Bad Habits - 2." His second mixtape, "Alone," followed in January 2017.

Label Deal and Critical Acclaim

Skies' subsequent singles, such as "Red Roses," "Off the Goop," "Lust," and the music video for "Signs of Jealousy," piqued the interest of record labels. He ultimately signed with Atlantic Records. The release of his mixtape "Life of a Dark Rose" in 2018 earned critical acclaim and peaked at number 10 on the Billboard-200. A subsequent tour was cut short due to illness, but Skies later performed alongside Lil Uzi Vert in the "Very Uzi Christmas" show.

Sophomore Album and Continued Success

In early 2019, Skies released his second studio album, "Shelby," featuring collaborations with artists like Lil Skies and Julian Gramma. The album garnered top 20 and top 10 chart positions. In 2020, Skies dropped several singles, including "Riot" and "Havin My Way" with Lil Durk. He continues to work on his upcoming album, fulfilling his fans' anticipation for a full-length release.

Personal Life

Skies has been in a relationship with Jacey Marie Fugate since 2018. While the couple has kept their personal lives relatively private, their social media posts occasionally offer glimpses into their bond. In 2019, Skies announced his girlfriend's pregnancy during a Los Angeles concert, and the birth of their son, Kimetrius Jr., was announced in July. The couple has yet to announce any plans for marriage.
