Biography of Limi Yamamoto

Limi Yamamoto is a fashion designer and the daughter of the renowned designer Yohji Yamamoto. Born with long black hair and a childlike expression on her face, she bears a striking resemblance to her father. Limi recently made her debut in the fashion industry by presenting her clothing collection at Paris Fashion Week.

Critics couldn't help but compare her to her authoritative father, noting similarities in the voluminous skirts, formless dresses, and asymmetrical lines. However, unlike most children of celebrities who suffer from such comparisons, Limi embraces them and speaks highly of her father, using the respectful honorific "san" when referring to him.

Limi confidently states that she creates clothing that reflects the subtleties of women's psychology, claiming that her father lacks the depth of understanding because he is a man. Despite her self-assured statements, Limi is actually a timid and vulnerable person.

In Japan, Limi is already considered a mature designer, although not as popular as her father. She initially joined her father's company as a patternmaker, but soon realized her talent for clothing design. In October 1999, she was appointed as the artist-designer for the new brand Y's bis LIMI. Shortly after, she changed the brand name to LIMI feu, removing the initials of her father's name and replacing them with the fiery French word "feu."

A year ago, Limi decided to showcase her collection at Paris Fashion Week. She brought Japanese models and musicians to the show, aiming to showcase everything she had learned since her first Tokyo fashion show. She chose classic Yamamoto colors - black, white, and dark blue - and featured the same girls who walked the runway during her first show. Her team consisted of her old colleagues and she brought everything Japanese to Europe, from music to models, fabrics, and accessories.

The press was particularly intrigued by the tattoos on the models' shoulders, assuming they were temporary. However, Limi clarified that the tattoos were real and explained that her designs cater to strong, creative, and independent individuals - the kind of people who get tattoos. She herself has a tattoo, which initially angered her mother but amused her father, as it turned out that her great-grandfather also had a tattoo on his back. This discovery made her father laugh, saying, "Now I'm sure that your blood, Limi, carries my grandfather's spirit!"

As for her future plans, Limi acknowledges that many people attended her show simply because she is Yohji Yamamoto's daughter. She is aware that it will only be in the next season that she will know who is genuinely interested in her work. In her moments of sadness, she once again resembles her father.
