Australian Fashion Designer Linda Britten
Linda Britten is an Australian fashion designer who has been known in the modern fashion industry since the 1970s. She personally created several fashion labels and primarily works in Melbourne, Australia. Her creations are released under the brand 'Linda Britten'.
Early Life and Career
Britten was born and raised in Melbourne. She began her professional career in design in 1968, shortly after graduating from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Her talent caught the attention of one of the top fashion labels at the time, 'Noleen King', and she took her first steps in the fashion industry as an employee of this company. Two years later, Britten left the company and moved to 'Tiffany'. From there, she started working on her own labels.
Establishing Her Own Brands
Britten's first label was called 'Jellibeen', which quickly gained success. Well-known designers such as Kenneth Pirrie started seeking Linda's services. Britten continued to work on creating her own company and soon launched a new brand called 'Anna Seed'. Clothing marked with this label was sold in major stores in the country, such as 'Myer' and 'Georges'.
Focus on Evening and Wedding Attire
In the mid-70s, Britten opened her first store in Hampton, followed by a second store on Chapel Street. From this point on, Britten traded under her own name. In 1978, she introduced a new line of evening gowns and couture dresses. Linda was known for her love of lace embellishments, and many of her dresses were used as unconventional wedding attire.
Designer Honeymoon Collection
In the 1990s, Linda collaborated with the partner company 'Qantas Holidays' to launch the 'Designer Honeymoon Collection'. This project included existing bridal stores and fresh ideas. Britten gradually expanded her influence to popular honeymoon destinations such as Fiji, Hawaii, and Bali.
International Recognition and Collaboration
Britten's participation in the World Trade Fashion Exhibition in Japan in the late 1990s opened doors to a new market. She caught the interest of the Japanese wedding accessories trading firm 'Watabe'. They proposed a new joint project, and soon the 'Linda Britten Japanese Wedding Blessings' label started offering services to tourists wishing to have a wedding ceremony in Australia.
Current Work and Personal Life
Currently, Linda continues to successfully work on new models of evening dresses and wedding attire. She recently relaunched one of her first projects, 'Anna Seed'. Britten is happily married to Wayne Finschi, and their sons Tim and Alex have also pursued successful careers in the fashion industry.
