Gints Bude
Biography of Gints Bude
Gints Bude was born on April 23, 1971, in Riga, Latvia. He graduated from Riga Tailor College, specializing in tailoring. Afterward, Bude studied sewing technologies and advanced clothing construction methods at Riga Technical University.
In 1988-1989, he worked as a tailor at the experimental factory of 'Rīgas modes', where completely new clothing models were created. On November 2, 1990, Gints founded his own fashion house called 'Gints BUDE' and the first professional modeling school in Latvia, the Latvia Gints BUDE fashion model studio.
Since 1993, Bude has been a costume designer and choreographer consultant for the beauty pageants 'Miss Latvia' and 'Mister Latvia'. He has also been a member of the Baltic Fashion Designers Association since 2004.
Gints Bude creates fashion collections for both men and women, which have been showcased internationally at fashion forums, fairs, and other events since 1994. It all started with the European Fair of Men's Clothing, 'Herren-Mode-Woche-Köln'. Bude is one of the creators and organizers of the Latvian festival 'Mode. Māksla. Mūzika' ('Fashion. Art. Music') and the founder of the 'Zelta adata' ('Golden Needle') award.
His fashion collection has been presented at Riga Fashion Week, and he participated in the Latvian fashion presentation during the cultural project 'Etonnante Lettonie' in Paris, France, in 2005. In addition, Bude has contributed his designs to publications such as 'Pastaiga', 'Avene', 'Golfs', and the online magazine Pastaiga.ru.
Gints Bude is an expert in dress code and fashion trends, providing information to the public through magazines 'Vakara ziņas' ('Evening News') and 'Privātā dzīve' ('Private Life').
At the 'Baltic Beauty Contest' in Riga in 2011, Gints Bude announced his withdrawal from the Association of Modeling Agencies. He was extremely outraged that a 14-year-old contestant was required to appear in a swimsuit before the audience. The designer stated that underage girls should not be exposed in a swimsuit in public to become famous models, comparing it to a hockey player stepping onto the ice in swim trunks to showcase their talent.
