Linda Lavin is an American actress and singer known for her successful career in both theater and film. She has been recognized and awarded for her exceptional talent, receiving prestigious accolades such as the "Golden Globe" and "Emmy" for one of her works. Born on October 15, 1937, in Portland, Maine, USA, Linda Lavin attended the College of William and Mary before becoming a member of the Actors Equity Association.

Before pursuing a career in theater, Lavin worked as part of the film crew in Michigan, contributing to the production of "The Velvet Touch." In the late 1950s, she performed in the cabaret Compass Players. By the mid-1960s, Linda Lavin had become a renowned Broadway actress, starring in musical productions such as "The Mad Show," "The Boy From...," and "It's a Bird...It's a Plane...It's Superman."

In 1967, Lavin made a lasting impression with her portrayal of Gloria Thorpe in the television version of the musical "Damn Yankees." Her performance garnered praise from both her newly acquired fans and directors. In 1969, Linda Lavin married actor Ron Leibman, and the couple later relocated to Hollywood. Lavin made frequent guest appearances on various TV programs and participated in multiple series, including the television film "Barney Miller."
One of her notable roles was playing Alice in the popular TV series based on the Oscar-winning film "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore." During her time as Alice, Lavin became one of the highest-paid actresses on television.
