Early Career
Lyon Akswijk began his footballing journey with Hellas Sport in Zaandam before joining the youth academy of FC Waalwijk. After progressing through the youth ranks, he earned a spot in the first team.
Debut Season
On October 29, 2005, Akswijk made his Eredivisie debut for Waalwijk against NAC Breda, marking a 4-1 victory. He appeared in four league matches during his rookie season.
Loan to VVV-Venlo
In January 2006, Akswijk was loaned to VVV-Venlo in the Eerste Divisie. He played eight games and received three yellow cards and one red card during his loan spell.
AGOVV Apeldoorn
Becoming a free agent after his loan, Akswijk signed a two-year contract with AGOVV Apeldoorn. He made 30 appearances in two seasons, including one appearance in the KNVB Cup.
Amateur Career
In 2008, Akswijk joined amateur club IJsselmeervogels, where his older brother Ivan, a former Haarlem midfielder, also played.
Spakenburg and ASV De Dijk
In 2010, Akswijk joined Spakenburg. After the 2010/11 season, the club mutually terminated his contract, paving the way for his move to ASV De Dijk in Amsterdam.
Police Futsal Selection
From 2012, Akswijk represented the Netherlands police futsal team.OFC Oostzaan
In July 2013, Akswijk joined OFC in Oostzaan, where he currently plays as a defender.
