Loki's origins begin during a battle between the Asgardians and Frost Giants. Odin, the Asgardian king, defeated the Frost Giant king, Laufey, and discovered a tiny infant amidst the giant's stronghold. Despite his diminutive size, Odin discovered the infant to be Laufey's son. Ashamed of his child's unusual stature, Laufey had hidden him away. Out of respect for a worthy foe, pity, and a desire to torment his estranged father, Bor, Odin adopted the infant Loki.

Loki's childhood in Asgard was marked by a sense of inferiority to his fellow Asgardians, especially his physically imposing brother, Thor. Lacking in strength and stature, Loki developed his cunning and became a formidable sorcerer. As he matured, Loki reveled in pranks and deception, earning the moniker "God of Mischief and Lies." His pranks escalated into acts of danger, driven by his thirst for power and resentment.
