Launa Anderson: Birth and Early Career

Launa Anderson, born on March 2, 1915, in Nashville, Tennessee, began her acting career in Hollywood, where her striking appearance quickly gained attention. In 1932, she was one of the select few named as "WAMPAS Baby Stars," a publicity campaign to promote young actresses.

"Paramount Panther Woman" and Paramount Contract

After winning the "Paramount Panther Woman Contest," Anderson secured a contract with Paramount Pictures. However, when the studio declined to renew her contract, she transitioned to freelance work. Throughout the 1930s, she appeared frequently in "B" movies, accumulating a portfolio of over 50 films by decade's end.

Notable Films and Marriage

In 1934, Anderson played Peggy in the drama "School For Girls." In July 1935, she made headlines by eloping to Santa Barbara, California, and marrying MGM actor Ed Norris. Their marriage was annulled in Tijuana, Mexico, four days later. She later married businessman James T. Bolling, but they divorced in March 1947.

Other Achievements and Decline in Acting Career

Beyond her film work, Anderson set a female golf record in 1938, playing 156 holes in 11 hours and 56 minutes at Lake Norconian, California. Her acting career waned significantly in the 1940s, with her last screen appearance in the comedy "Two Knights From Brooklyn" in 1949.

Post-Acting Career and Death

Upon leaving the film industry, Anderson pursued a successful career in business. She never returned to acting and passed away in Los Angeles, California, on September 18, 1992, at the age of 77. She was interred at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Glendale, California.
