Early Life and Career

Loren Alfonso Dominguez was born on May 28, 1995, in Cuba to a humble family. Despite being ranked third in his home country, he exhibited exceptional skills, never losing a fight against the second-ranked boxer.

Transition to Azerbaijan

In January 2017, Dominguez participated in the Azerbaijani National Championships but encountered controversy. However, after the retirement of Olympic medalist Teymur Mammadov, Dominguez received an invitation to join the Azerbaijani national team in November 2018. He cited intense competition in Cuba as a motivating factor for his move, stating that only the top boxer would be chosen for tournaments.

International Success

In April 2019, Dominguez won the silver medal at the International Boxing Tournament "Great Silk Road" in Baku. Later that year, he triumphed at the II European Games in Minsk. After defeating notable opponents, he emerged victorious in the final against Benjamin Whittaker of Great Britain, securing the gold medal.

Olympic Bronze

At the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics, Dominguez reached the semifinals in the 81 kg weight category, defeating athletes from Uzbekistan and Turkey. He ultimately fell to Cuban boxer Arlen Lopez, earning the bronze medal for Azerbaijan.

Personal Life

Outside of boxing, Dominguez enjoys music and singing. He occasionally performs in restaurants during his free time. He has a daughter and a partner of Cuban origin who resides in Germany.
