Continuing his momentum, he outboxed Azerbaijani pugilist Jayhun Abiyev in the quarterfinals. However, his path to the semifinals was met with a setback when he faced Russian boxer David Ayrapetyan, who ultimately defeated him with a clear advantage in the third round.
