Biography of Lothar Matthäus

Lothar Matthäus is a German footballer who played as a defender and midfielder. He played at the highest level for over two decades and achieved a number of unique accomplishments. He is the only outfield player to have participated in five World Cups and six European Championships. He holds the record for the most matches played (25) in World Cup tournaments and has no equal in Europe with 150 appearances for the national team.
