Biography of Louisa Horton Hill

Louisa Horton Hill was born in 1920 in Beijing, China. She spent her childhood in Haiti before her family moved to the United States, where she lived for the rest of her life. In 1946, she made her Broadway debut in the play "Voice of the Turtle".

Meeting George Roy Hill

While both were young actors, Louisa met her future husband, George Roy Hill, at the Shakespeare Repertory Company. They got married in 1951, and she added Hill to her name. They had four children together. Despite their divorce in the 1970s, rumors suggested that they maintained a friendly relationship.

Acting Career

Louisa Horton Hill's husband, George Roy Hill, provided her with the opportunity to appear on the big screen in 1948, in Irving Reis's drama "All My Sons". She went on to play a dozen roles in film and television, including the Broadway production "The Blessing" in 1989, where she portrayed a lesbian mother. Some of her notable film credits include "Walk East on Beacon!" (1952), the comedy-action film "Swashbuckler" (1976), the thriller "Communion" (1976), and several others. For the last 50 years of her life, Louisa Horton Hill resided in Manhattan. She passed away on January 25, 2008, at the age of 87, leaving behind four children and twelve grandchildren.
