Lu Zikuang: The Boy Who Gained Weight for His Father's Life
The Extraordinary SacrificeIn an extraordinary act of filial devotion, an 11-year-old Chinese boy named Lu Zikuang embarked on a mission to gain weight, all for the sake of saving his father's life. His father was in dire need of a bone marrow transplant, and his elder brother was an ideal donor. However, the doctors would only approve the transplant if Zikuang's weight exceeded 45 kilograms (99 pounds).
Rising to the Challenge
Determined to fulfill the medical requirement, Zikuang from Huixian, Henan Province, embarked on a rigorous weight-gain regimen. Since March, he has increased his weight from 30 to 44 kilograms (66 to 97 pounds), with just a few hearty meals separating him from the target weight.
Indomitable Spirit
Despite the potential health risks, Zikuang remained steadfast in his mission. "Even if I feel sick, I will keep eating," he declared. "Our family simply cannot bear to lose my father." He planned to stop gaining weight at 50 kilograms (110 pounds), as agreed upon with his father.
A Heartfelt Wish
On June 1st, International Children's Day, Lu Zikuang expressed his one wish - to save his loved one. His selfless act has touched the hearts of millions, demonstrating the extraordinary power of human compassion and the unbreakable bond between a son and his father.
