The swimmer participated in the women's 100-meter butterfly event at the 2020 Summer Olympics, setting several Paraguayan records in the discipline. 2024 Paris Olympics and Retirement

Competed in Paris Olympics

During the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, Alonso competed in the women's 100-meter butterfly, finishing 6th in her heat, 29th overall, and failing to advance to the semi-finals. Alonso announced her retirement from competitive swimming immediately after the race.

Departure from Olympic Village

On August 5, it was reported that Alonso had been asked to leave the Olympic Village by the head of Paraguay's mission for creating an "unfavorable atmosphere" surrounding the team. Comments made by the president of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee on a Paraguayan radio show appeared to suggest that the decision to remove Alonso was made following her trip to Disneyland in Paris. Meanwhile, the Paraguayan digital newspaper Hoy reported that Alonso had spoken about not wanting to represent Paraguay in interviews prior to the Games, expressing a desire to represent the United States instead. On August 6, Alonso commented on her removal, stating that she had indeed left the Games, but that she had done so of her own volition.
