Early Life and Training

Arus Voskanovna Voinova-Shikanyan was born in Armenia and later moved to Moscow to pursue her passion for ballet. In 1925, she graduated from the prestigious Bolshoi Theater Ballet School.

Professional Career

Voinova-Shikanyan's professional career began at the Bolshoi Theatre's Moscow branch in 1925. She went on to perform in opera and ballet theaters in Novosibirsk, Sverdlovsk, and Tbilisi's Paliasashvili Opera and Ballet Theater. In 1938, she joined the Spendiarov Opera and Ballet Theater in Yerevan.

Legacy and Personal Life

In addition to her stage work, Voinova-Shikanyan also engaged in teaching from 1939 onwards. She married ballet dancer and conductor Dmitry Shikanyan. Her son became disabled during tragic events, and the resulting emotional toll contributed to her memory loss in later years.

Final Years and Passing

Arus Voinova-Shikanyan passed away on August 17, 1990. Her memory is preserved through her contributions to the world of ballet and her tireless dedication as a teacher.
