Luca Castiglia
ItalyEarly Career
Luca Castiglia began his soccer journey with Carcarese, a youth soccer club. He later joined Torino's football academy in 1998, spending seven years there but never making an appearance for the first team.
Shift to Juventus
After Torino's bankruptcy in 2005, Castiglia became a free agent and moved to another Turin-based club, Juventus. For four years, he played for Juventus' youth squads, achieving success with the club's youth league title in 2006, two youth super cups (2006 and 2007), and the Viareggio Cup in 2009.
First Team Debut
In the 2007/2008 season, Castiglia caught the attention of Juventus' manager, Claudio Ranieri, and was called up to the first team. He made his Serie A debut as a substitute against Livorno on January 27, 2008, and went on to play another league match that season against Sampdoria. The following year, he made a Champions League appearance against BATE.
Loan Spells and Return
Between 2009 and 2011, Castiglia was loaned out to Cesena, Reggiana, and Viareggio, gaining playing experience in different divisions. After a short stint with SPAL in 2011/2012, he returned to Juventus.
Vicenza and Empoli
For the 2012/2013 season, Castiglia joined Vicenza on loan with a shared ownership agreement. He became a regular player, making 33 appearances and scoring five goals. Despite his contributions, the club was relegated. Juventus regained full ownership of Castiglia in 2013 and sent him on loan to Empoli. He helped the team earn promotion to Serie A.
Pro Vercelli
In the summer of 2014, Castiglia signed a loan agreement with Pro Vercelli. However, the club eventually purchased his contract from Juventus in February 2015, committing him for three years. He became a key player for Pro Vercelli.
