Formation of Orazero

In 1986, Ligabue and his friends formed the amateur music group Orazero, taking their name from a song they performed in various local competitions. During this period, the band wrote several well-known compositions, including "Sogni di rock'n'roll," "Anime in Plexiglass," "Sarà un bel souvenir," "Bar Mario," and "Figlio di un cane."

Early Success and Recognition

In 1987, Orazero released their first official singles, "Bar Mario" and "Anime in Plexiglass," which were produced in limited quantities and have since become rarities. The following year, the group won the Terremoto Rock music competition in Reggio Emilia. Ligabue's talent caught the attention of Pierangelo Bertoli, who included Ligabue's song "Sogni di rock'n'roll" in one of his albums. Bertoli also suggested to producer Angelo Carrara to collaborate with Ligabue on his debut album.

Debut Album and Festivalbar

Ligabue's first album was released in May 1990 and featured collaborations with members of the group Clandestino, who helped with song arrangements and performed with him on stage and in the recording studio. In the same year, Ligabue participated in the Italian competition Festivalbar, where he won the prize for Best Young Musician with his song "Balliamo sul mondo."

Continued Success

Ligabue's second album, "Lambrusco, coltelli, rose e pop-corn," was released in November 1991 and achieved similar success to his debut album. Hits such as "Libera nos a malo" and "Urlando contro il cielo" contributed to the album's popularity. The third album, "Sopravvissuti e sopravviventi," released in 1993, was more refined and of higher quality than its predecessors but received mixed reviews from critics. Despite this, the single "Ho messo via" received some radio airplay.

Career Breakthrough

In 1994, Ligabue severed ties with his old producer and team and released his fourth album, "A che ora e' la fine del mondo?," which included eight compositions. One notable song was a cover of R.E.M.'s "It's the end of the world as we know it," indirectly referencing Silvio Berlusconi. Ligabue's career took a significant turn in 1995 with the release of the album "Buon compleanno, Elvis!," which made him a beloved and well-known rocker throughout Italy. Most of the songs from this album became hits, particularly the track "Certe notti," which was acclaimed by critics as the best Italian song of the 90s.
