Early Life and Education
Ludivine Dedonder was born on March 17, 1977, in Tournai, Belgium. She studied business engineering at the University of Liège.
Career in Journalism
From 2000 to 2001, Dedonder worked as a radio host for Fréquence Wallonie. She then transitioned to sports journalism, serving as a sports reporter for RTBF from 2001 to 2002. Additionally, she presented sports news on the regional channel Notélé.
Political Career
Local and Regional PoliticsFrom 2002 to 2006, Dedonder served as an advisor to Michel Dardenne, a regional minister in Wallonia. She also served on the Tournai city council from 2006 to 2019.
National Politics
Dedonder ran in the parliamentary elections of May 25, 2019, as the second candidate on the Socialist Party list for the Hainaut constituency. She was elected to the Chamber of Representatives.
On October 1, 2020, Dedonder was appointed Minister of Defense in the De Croo government, becoming the first woman to hold this position in Belgian history.
Personal Life
Dedonder is in a civil partnership with Paul-Olivier Delannois, who previously served as mayor of Tournai from 2014 to 2019.
