Biography of Lyudmila Gnilova
Lyudmila Gnilova, a distinguished artist of the RSFSR (1982), was born on February 12, 1944. In 1964, she graduated from the studio at the Central Children's Theater (now known as RAMT) and was accepted into its troupe. That same year, she made her film debut in Maria Fedorova's film "Distant Countries," based on the book by Arkady Gaidar, where she played the role of Lenka. This was followed by roles in Ivan Pyryev's film "The Light of a Distant Star" (Olya, a student at a chemical and technological institute), Veniamin Dormane's comedy "Easy Life" (Gulina, a dry cleaner worker), Aida Manasarova's film "Twenty Years Later" (Tosya), and Eldar Ryazanov's film "Give Me the Complaint Book" (a student).
Early Career and Love Story
In 1974, a young talented actor named Alexander Solovyov (later famous for the film "The Green Van") joined the Central Children's Theater (CDT). He was recruited from the Mayakovsky Theater, where he had only played minor roles. In the CDT, Alexander was immediately offered the lead role of a mischievous, infatuated high school student. His partner in the play was Lyudmila Gnilova. To play lovers, it is necessary to be at least slightly in love with your partner. Alexander, however, did nothing by halves. He genuinely fell in love. Lyudmila was seven years older than Alexander and already married, raising a six-year-old son in a happy marriage. Alexander was also married, but nothing could stop him. For three years, Alexander pursued Lyudmila, who could not understand why she should ruin her own family. Meanwhile, Alexander showered her with flowers and expensive French perfumes. He began spending the night in the entranceway of Lyudmila's building, on the windowsill between floors. Eventually, Lyudmila gave in, and in 1977, they got married and later had a son named Mikhail. They lived in a small apartment, but no domestic inconveniences could overshadow their family happiness. Flowers were always present in their home, constantly given by Alexander, her beloved.
Challenges and Return to Acting
Trouble came from another direction. Over time, Alexander Solovyov developed an addiction to alcohol. He would increasingly fall into binges, where he could cause all sorts of trouble. However, Lyudmila forgave her husband for all his actions out of love. As a loving wife, she tried everything to save Alexander from his destructive habit, but all her efforts were in vain. In 1991, Alexander Solovyov entered an alcoholism clinic once again. There, he met actress Irina Pechernikova, who was also seeking treatment for alcoholism. They began a romance, which Lyudmila could not tolerate, leading her to break ties with her husband. Alexander's addiction eventually led to his passing on January 1, 2000.
Lyudmila Gnilova continued working at the Central Children's Theater until 2002. During this time, she appeared in films less frequently. Besides her theater work, in the 90s, the actress actively worked as a voice-over artist for foreign films. Her voice could be heard in characters from famous series such as "Santa Barbara" and "Love and Secrets of Sunset Beach," as well as films like "Runaway Bride" and "ALF," and animated series like "The Gummi Bears," "DuckTales," and "Wacky Races."
In the new century, Lyudmila Gnilova began to reappear on screen. Initially, she took on episodic roles in TV series, and later played the role of Director Lyudmila Petrovna in the acclaimed film "The Cosmonaut's Grandson" directed by Andrei Panin. In 2009, she portrayed Maria Romanovna, the grandmother of the main character Alice, in the TV series "Love is Not What It Seems." Lyudmila Gnilova created the image of a resilient pensioner who takes care of the house: cooking, cleaning, ironing, sewing, knitting, altering clothes, and constantly sharing proverbs and sayings. It was a fantastic performance showcasing the timeless talent of a brilliant actress.
