Biography of Lyudmila Trunova (Aivar)

Lyudmila Trunova (Aivar) is a prominent Russian lawyer and Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the Moscow Collegium of Lawyers. She was born on July 10, 1964, in the Sverdlovsk Region and is of Russian descent. Trunova holds a Doctor of Juridical Sciences degree and is a Professor at the International Institute of Management.

Trunova began her career in 1982 as a secretary of a court session and later worked as a court executive. In 1992, she graduated from the Faculty of Law at the Kuban State University and subsequently served as an assistant prosecutor in Moscow.

Since 1996, Trunova has been a member of the Moscow Bar Association, practicing as a lawyer. In 1999, she defended her dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Juridical Sciences. In 2003, she defended her doctoral dissertation at the Institute of Problems of Strengthening the Legality and Law Enforcement under the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation.

Trunova has authored nearly 100 scientific works, including Commentaries on the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation under the general editorship of Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court of Russia V.I. Radchenko; a textbook on Criminal Procedure in Russia; Commentaries on the law [title]; monographs; methodological guidelines; scientific articles, and other works.

She has been honored with a commendation from the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation for her contribution to strengthening the rule of law and protecting constitutional rights and freedoms of citizens. Trunova collaborates with the Committee on Security of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, where she provides recommendations for improving legislation that are taken into account in lawmaking activities. She is a member of the Union of Lawyers of Russia and an Honorary Lawyer of Russia. Trunova also collaborates with the American Bar Association (ABA CEELI) and serves as a teacher in the Program for Promoting Criminal Justice Reforms in Russia (Promoting the Rule of Law). She also works with the Center for Judicial Support at the INDEM Foundation.

Trunova is married to Igor Trunov and has three children. In 2001, she represented the interests of the CEO of "Eler's Electronics" CJSC, Viktor Kalyadin, who was accused of espionage in favor of the United States. Kalyadin was sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment.
