Luigi Campidelli, a Blessed of the Roman Catholic Church, was a monk of the Passionist order. Born on April 28th to a large farming family, he aspired to join a monastery at the young age of 12. However, due to his tender years, he was denied admission to the monastery in Casale.
Novitiate and Ordination
Undeterred, Luigi tried again at the age of 14 in 1882 and was accepted as a novice. Five years later, in 1887, he took his monastic vows and adopted the name Pius of Saint Aloysius. He began studying theology in preparation for ordination as a deacon.
Illness and Death
Tragically, Luigi's life was cut short by tuberculosis. He passed away on November 2nd, 1889, at the age of 21.
Beatification
In recognition of his virtuous life, Luigi Campidelli was beatified on November 17th, 1985, by Pope John Paul II.

Luigi Campidelli's feast day in the Catholic Church is celebrated on November 2nd.
