The Incredible Thin Man
Isaac V. Sprague, also known as the Incredible Thin Man, was a man with an extraordinary physique. Despite regularly consuming twice as much food as an average healthy man, he remained incredibly thin. He even carried a flask of sweetened milk with him at all times, just in case he suddenly got hungry.
A Mysterious Transformation
Isaac was a normal child until the age of 12 when he started rapidly losing weight. In an attempt to maintain his unusual body shape, he resorted to constant under-eating.
The Circus Years
Upon reaching adulthood, Isaac joined Barnum's Circus, where he portrayed the role of the Skeleton Man. His skeletal appearance fascinated audiences and earned him fame. However, after a fire destroyed Barnum's American Museum, Sprague decided to leave behind his previous life as a living exhibit.
A New Chapter
Isaac got married and even had three children. However, due to financial difficulties, he eventually rejoined Barnum's Circus. He was often seen with a flask of milk around his neck, which he would periodically sip to stay conscious.
The Tragic End
The Skeleton Man passed away in 1887, living in extreme poverty brought on by his passion for gambling. In his will, Isaac Sprague bequeathed his body to science so that scientists could unravel the mysteries behind his extraordinarily thin frame. Standing at 168 centimeters tall, this unique individual weighed only around 18 kilograms.
