Luis Arconada, a renowned Spanish goalkeeper, was born near the home of his club Lencoac. In 1970, he joined Real Sociedad as a reserve player and made his debut in 1974.

After the departure of Pedro Maria Artola, Arconada became the second-choice goalkeeper in 1975. His impressive performance in a UEFA Cup match against Liverpool earned him a starting role, and he remained the team's undisputed guardian for 13 years.
