Early Life and Family
Born in Bolesławiec, Poland, Łukasz Kubot began his tennis journey at the tender age of nine. His family has always supported his passion, with his father Janusz, a former football coach, and mother Dorota providing unwavering encouragement. His younger sister, Paulina, has also been a constant source of support.
Professional Tennis Career
ITF and Challenger Success (2002-2004)Kubot turned professional in 2002 and quickly began making waves in the lower-level circuits. In 2004, he claimed four ITF Futures titles in singles and one ATP Challenger title in doubles.
Breakthrough on the Grand Slam Stage (2006)
Kubot's breakthrough moment came in 2006 when he qualified for the main draw of the US Open, becoming the first Polish player to do so in over a decade. He made an impressive run, reaching the third round before falling to Russian Nikolay Davydenko.
Doubles Success with Oliver Marach (2007-2009)
In 2007, Kubot partnered with Austrian Oliver Marach and reached his first ATP doubles final in Casablanca. They went on to repeat this feat in Lyon later that year. In 2009, Kubot and Marach captured three ATP doubles titles, including a semifinal appearance at the Australian Open.
First ATP Singles Final (2009)
In May 2009, Kubot reached his first ATP singles final in Belgrade, where he lost to local hero Novak Djokovic. He would make it to another singles final the following year in Costa do Sauípe, Brazil, but fell short to Juan Carlos Ferrero.
Career Highlights (2010)
2010 proved to be a banner year for Kubot. He won two ATP doubles titles in Santiago and Acapulco, and reached the quarterfinals at both the French Open and US Open with Marach. In September, he partnered with Juan Ignacio Chela to claim his sixth career doubles title in Bucharest, reaching a career-high ranking of world No. 7 in doubles.
