Stage Successes and a Creative Risk
Adler's stage career flourished with roles in "Alien Corn" (1933), "Gold Eagle Guy" (1934), "Awake and Sing!" (1935), and "Golden Boy" (1937). He also ventured into directing, with his play "A Flag is Born" (1946) running for 120 performances and featuring a young Marlon Brando.

Broadening Horizons: Film and Television
Despite his primarily theatrical focus, Adler did appear in several films, including "Lancer Spy" (1937), "D.O.A." (1950), and "Absence of Malice" (1981). He also made guest appearances on television shows such as "The Twilight Zone" and "The Untouchables."

A Stint on Broadway
In 1965, Adler took over the role of Tevye in the Broadway musical "Fiddler on the Roof." His portrayal of the beloved patriarch was widely acclaimed.

Adler was married twice, first to actress Sylvia Sidney from 1938 to 1946. His second marriage was to Julia Roche in 1959. He passed away in 1984 and was buried in Mount Carmel Cemetery alongside his family, including his renowned sister, Stella Adler.
