Valentina Vavèrco was born into a Jewish family in Odessa, Ukraine. At a young age, she began her musical education at the Peter Stolyarsky Music School under the tutelage of Berta Reingbald, a renowned teacher who also taught Emil Gilels.

Formal Education and Career Beginnings

Vavèrco pursued higher education at the Odessa Conservatory, where she graduated with honors in piano performance in 1950. Post-graduation, she worked as a teacher at the Voroshilovgrad Music College and as a concertmaster at the Odessa Conservatory.

Relocation to Chișinău and Academic Career

In 1955, Vavèrco moved to Chișinău, Moldova, with her husband, renowned Moldovan musicologist Zinovie Stoliar. She embarked on a distinguished academic career at the Chișinău Conservatory, where she initially served as a concertmaster. She was later promoted to Professor and, from 1993 to 2002, headed the Department of Special Piano as its Chairwoman.

Notable Accomplishments

Vavèrco was recognized for her exceptional contributions to musical education, earning the honorary title of Master of Arts (Maestru în Artă) in 1995. Her unwavering commitment to the field was also honored with the prestigious "Gloria Muncii" Order of Labor Glory.

Notably, she nurtured the talent of renowned pianist Oleg Maisenberg, who became one of her most distinguished disciples.
