Early Life and Education
Lucyna Winnicka was born in Poland and earned a law degree from the University of Warsaw in 1949. In 1953, she graduated from the State Higher School of Theatre in Warsaw (now the Aleksander Zelwerowicz National Academy of Dramatic Art).
Theatrical Career
From 1953 to 1974, Winnicka performed in theatres in Szczecin and Warsaw. Her notable theatrical roles include:

- 1956-1961:Joined the Teatr Współczesny in Warsaw- 1962-1974:Became a member of the National Theatre in Warsaw
Film Debut
Winnicka made her film debut in Jerzy Kawalerowicz's "Under the Phrygian Star" (1954). She went on to star in several of Kawalerowicz's films, including:

Breakthrough Role
Winnicka's most famous role was that of Joanna in Kawalerowicz's "Mother Joan of the Angels" (1961). Set in a 17th-century women's monastery where the nuns are possessed by a demon, the film brought her international recognition.
Later Career and Retirement
After appearing in the film "Index" in 1978, Winnicka retired from acting. She was married to Polish director Jerzy Kawalerowicz.
