Mack Horton is an Australian swimmer specializing in freestyle swimming. He gained recognition in 2012 after winning the 1500-meter event at the World Cup in Singapore with a time of 14:54.25. In 2013, he won five gold medals and one silver medal at the Junior World Championships in Dubai, setting himself up as a rising star in the sport.

In 2014, Horton competed in the Australian Swimming Championships, winning the 1500-meter event with a time of 14:51.55 and finishing second in the 400-meter event with a time of 3:44.6. That same year, he participated in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where he won silver in the 1500-meter event and gold in the 4x200-meter freestyle relay, setting a new youth world record.
