Kapricon, born in Germany to South African parents, and Critical, hailing from Norwegian-Ethiopian-Eritrean heritage, met as teenagers in Oslo. United by their passion for music, they joined forces to pursue a career in hip-hop.

Madcon's first significant breakthrough came in collaboration with the band Paperboys. Their single "Barcelona" became a resounding success, earning recognition from Scandinavian channel ZTV as the Best Video of the Year.
