Madeline Brown: The Alleged Mistress of Lyndon Johnson
Madeline Duncan Brown, born on July 5, 1925, was a Texan woman who claimed to have been the mistress of Lyndon Baines Johnson, the former President of the United States, for over twenty years. She also asserted that her son, Steven Mark Brown, was fathered by Johnson. Steven was born on December 27, 1950, and passed away on September 28, 1990.
Claims of Conspiracy
Not only did Brown claim to be Johnson's mistress, but she also alleged that she witnessed Lee Harvey Oswald, the only official suspect in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, meeting with Jack Ruby at the 'Carousel' club before Kennedy's death. Furthermore, Madeline stated that Lyndon Johnson confirmed a conspiracy to assassinate Kennedy on New Year's Eve in 1963, stating that the CIA and Texas oilmen would take responsibility for it.
Origins of the Assassination Plan
If Brown's claims are to be believed, the plan to assassinate Kennedy originated at the Democratic National Convention in 1960 when the politician was nominated as a presidential candidate. It was from this moment that American oil magnate Haroldson Lafayette Hunt and Lyndon Johnson allegedly began devising a plan to kill Kennedy. Johnson, who also intended to run for president as a Democratic candidate, lost to Kennedy in the elections and, as per agreement, was appointed as the vice-presidential candidate. When Hunt returned to Dallas in 1960, Madeline supposedly overheard him saying, "We might have lost the battle, but we intend to win the war." On the day of Kennedy's assassination, Brown claims Lafayette said, "Well, we won the war." On November 22, 1963, Johnson assumed the responsibilities of the President.
