Biography of Madison Robinson
IntroductionMadison Robinson is a 15-year-old entrepreneur who created and launched her own footwear brand called 'Fish Flops for Kids'. She currently resides in Houston, Texas.
Early Life and Inspiration
Madison came up with the idea for her business at the age of 8, while living in Galveston Island, Texas. She decided that all her footwear would have a maritime theme and be illuminated. Her father, Dan, a banker and talented t-shirt designer, supported her in the early stages of her venture.
Business Launch and Success
In 2011, production of 'Fish Flops for Kids' began, and the first deliveries were made to 30 stores. Today, the footwear can be purchased in various retail stores and online. The designer flip flops for children are priced at around $20, and Madison has recently received requests to develop similar products for women.
Achievements and Recognition
In 2012, Madison sold approximately 60,000 pairs of shoes, which allowed her to make her first million dollars. However, the $1.2 million figure does not represent net profit. Nonetheless, Madison's father stated that by the end of her 9th grade, she had earned enough money to fund her future college education.
Entrepreneurial Skills and Philanthropy
Madison has acquired a wealth of knowledge about various aspects of business, including design, pricing, inventory management, packaging, trade show organization, sales, and media marketing. Her footwear has gained attention from celebrities such as Nancy O'Dell, a famous television show host, and Tony Little, a well-known fitness trainer and TV personality. Additionally, Madison is actively involved in charity work, supporting organizations that assist children of fallen war heroes. She has donated hundreds of pairs of her flip flops to Texas Children's Hospital and 10,000 pairs to the Texas Parks & Wildlife's K-12 State Fish Art Contest.
Growth and Future Plans
During her two years in business, Madison has matured significantly. She now evaluates footwear not only for its aesthetics but also for quality and materials. Madison's 'Fish Flops' are known for their durability, unlike many other flip flops on the market. Furthermore, she has honed her public speaking skills through numerous presentations. All the money she has earned is being saved for her college education, as per her father's instructions. Madison plans to study business, as she already possesses a considerable amount of knowledge and experience in the field by the age of 15.
