Political Involvement

In 1995, Reznik founded and headed the Yabloko Youth Union. He joined the adult Yabloko party that same year and was elected to the party's political council in 1996.

Government Positions

From 1997 to 1999, Reznik served as Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Family, Childhood and Youth Affairs of the Saint Petersburg administration. In the early 2000s, he was a deputy of the Municipal Council No. 74.

Yabloko Leadership

In 1999, Reznik became the Director of Social Programs for the Epitsentr-Saint Petersburg Foundation. In 2000, he became Deputy Chairman of the Saint Petersburg branch of Yabloko and succeeded Mikhail Amosov as Chairman in 2003.

In 2005, Reznik was re-elected as Chairman of the Saint Petersburg regional branch of the party. He was a key figure in organizing the "Marches of Dissent" in Saint Petersburg, which led to his arrest and subsequent charges of violence and insulting a government official.

Charges and Imprisonment

In 2008, Reznik was arrested and jailed over allegations of insulting and assaulting a police officer. Human rights organizations and opposition figures condemned the charges as politically motivated.

Release from Prison

After spending several weeks in jail, Reznik was released on bail in March 2008. The case against him was eventually dropped due to insufficient evidence.

Arrest and Charges

In March 2008, Reznik was arrested on charges of violence and insulting a government official. He was accused of being inebriated and assaulting several police officers.

Release

On March 21, 2008, the Saint Petersburg City Court released Reznik from jail. The charges against him were later dropped, clearing his name.

Continued Political Involvement

Despite the controversy surrounding his arrest, Reznik remained an active political figure. He continued to lead the Saint Petersburg branch of Yabloko and engage in political activism.
