Biography of Maxim Spodirev
Maxim Spodirev was born in the largest Ukrainian city of Kharkiv in late 1993. He began figure skating in 1998 and soon started dancing with Veronika Sharapova. In 2011, he formed a partnership with former Russian skater Daria Korotitskaya.

Early Career
In December, they won a bronze medal at the New Year's tournament in Budapest among juniors. However, they withdrew from the national championship. The following autumn, the pair made their debut in the junior Grand Prix series in Slovenia and France, where they finished near the podium. In December 2012, they won a bronze medal in a fierce competition at the Ukrainian championship.

Transition to Poland
During the Olympic season, the pair competed again in the junior Grand Prix series. This time, their performances were not their best. At the same time, the political situation in Ukraine worsened, and the pair split. At this time, Maxim received an offer from Poland to partner with Polish dancer Natalia Kaliszek. They began competing together after the Olympic season.

Success in Poland
In Riga, they won a silver medal at the Volvo Cup among juniors and earned the technical minimum for the continental and junior championships. In December, they finished first at the New Year's tournament in Budapest. A few days later, they became Polish champions for the first time. In January, they made their debut at the continental championship in Stockholm, where they performed very well and advanced to the final. In early March, they debuted at the World Junior Championships in Tallinn, where they had a successful performance and earned a double quota for the next championship. At the end of the month, they made their debut at the World Championships in Shanghai but did not qualify for the finals.

Recent Career
The new season for the Polish pair started in September at the Nebelhorn Trophy, where they finished in the middle of the standings. They then competed in Saransk at the Mordovian Patterns Challenger event, where they won a bronze medal. They finished second at the home tournament, the Warsaw Cup. In December, they became national champions for the second time. In late January 2016, they finished eleventh at the European Championships in Bratislava. In March, they confidently qualified for the finals at the World Championships in Boston, improving on their previous achievements.

Olympic Season
The Polish skaters began the new pre-Olympic season in Slovakia at the Nepela Memorial, where they finished fourth. A week later, they competed in Finland at the Finlandia Trophy, where they finished in the top five. In November, the pair debuted in the Chinese Grand Prix stage, finishing fifth. A week later, they competed in the Japanese Grand Prix stage, finishing in the middle of the standings. They became national champions for the third time a month later. In January 2017, they competed at the continental championship in Ostrava, finishing in the top eight and earning two spots for their country in the next season. At the end of March, they performed confidently at the World Championships in Helsinki, easily qualifying for the next Olympic Games and advancing to the free program. They improved on all their previous achievements during this time.

Current Performance
The Olympic season for the Polish pair began in early October in Espoo at the Finlandia Trophy, where their performance was not the best, finishing in the middle of the standings. A month later, they competed at the Canadian Grand Prix stage, where they did not perform well, finishing second to last. They had an unsuccessful performance at the French Grand Prix stage, finishing in the middle of the standings.
