Manuel Linares, a 37-year-old physicist, professor, engineer, and ice cream enthusiast from Barcelona, has developed a "magical" fruit-flavored ice cream that changes color.
The "Chameleon" Ice Cream
Aptly named "Chameleon," the ice cream's initial vibrant blue hue transforms into a deep pink within 10-15 seconds after being sprayed with a secret concoction. As the consumer licks the ice cream, it transitions through intermediate shades of pink.
The Transformation
Linares's invention features an all-natural composition that remains a closely guarded secret. The initial blue color stems from natural ingredients. When sprayed with the "love potion," a special solution created by Linares, the ice cream undergoes a rapid transformation, turning deep pink. The color continues to change as the ice cream melts, revealing additional shades of pink.
Inspiration and Development
Linares drew inspiration from British ice cream innovator Charlie Francis, famed for creating fluorescent ice cream under the brand "Lick Me I'm Delicious." In his culinary workshops in Barcelona, Linares's idea was initially met with laughter, but his scientific background allowed him to envision the feasibility of his concept.
Business Venture
Currently, Linares operates his own ice cream shop in Calella de Mar, a town in eastern Barcelona, where he sells his Chameleon ice cream. He is also developing two additional flavors, one that reacts to ultraviolet light in nightclubs and another that transforms from white to pink while being consumed.
Ambitious Goals
Linares's delectable creation has garnered immense popularity in his homebase. He now aims to expand his reach by securing wholesale contracts, allowing his color-changing ice cream to delight consumers far beyond his local borders.
